There’s a reason her 30 Day Shred workout has become a national hit: it works. But anyone who’s ever seen Jillan work out with contestants onThe Biggest Loser knows it’s not necessarily going to be easy. The 30 Day Shred features three 20-minute workouts, each of which features, in rapid succession, short bursts of strength, cardio, and abs, and a cool-down. Sound easy? Think again. Even the beginner-level workout will have users’ heart rates up.

30 Day Shred Description

Jillian allows no resting between each short burst of exercise, which is part of why the results happen so quickly. The transitions between strength, which can feature classic moves like pushups or reps with small weights, and cardio, and then between cardio and abs, are a mere second or two. But that pacing helps guarantee the results that Jillian touts.

30 Day ShredThere are a few modified moves for true beginners, but even for them, Jillian doesn’t cut much slack; everyone has to do real jumping jacks, and a lot of them. The only thing you need to jump into the 30 Day Shred is a set of small hand weights, and, if you have a hard floor, a mat for the floor moves.

Otherwise, commit 20 minutes a day for a month, and get that lean, shredded body you’ve always wanted.

What we Liked Most about the 30 Day Shred Workout

This is a great DVD to get into shape.Jillian is a great motivator and the different levels help you ease yourself into the workouts. It has some modification for the beginner with workouts that progress by level of intensity. It is a video for all fitness levels.

What we Did Not Like about the 30 Day Shred Workout

The DVD offers three levels however some people found that there didn’t seem to be a significant jump in energy needed between the levels. The biggest complaint from owners is that there is an infomercial at the beginning of the DVD that you can’t bypass.

More About the 30 Day Shred

30 Day ShredMost people found this to be an absolute butt-kicker workout. These workouts are hard and Level 2 can be very difficult for some people.

Jillian suggests starting at Level 1 which is a good idea so that you can start out a little bit slower and get your body used to the workout. This way you probably won’t sustain any injuries.

In case you forgot, Jillian is tough and offers absolutely no rest in the workout but that’s what is going to get your body in shape.

Jillian bases her workout on the 3-2-1 method: 3 minutes strength, 2 minutes cardio, 1 minute abs.

The cardio has a lot of jumping, so watch those knees (she has a modifier for beginner and lower impact). The abdominal workout is straight up ab work which is a variety of crunches and twists on the floor.

If you really want to get a good workout and to jumpstart your weight loss get this DVD you will not be disappointed. It’s great for those who are short on time too and want to try something new; every workout is just under 30 minutes!
